How hard are stock turbo renault engines?

This is the thing - my shitty vauxhall/opel maniac friend iz ragging me again about the toughness of the opel engine(especially C20XE) and hoy much better it is than the F7P/R renault engine. Today he showed me a vid of a vectra 2.0 16v stock turbined(stock 204 bhp) that was on 1.6 bar boost with everything standard on the engine. he said - standarten dvigatel izdyrja do 1.6 bara boost - reno dvigatelq shte izdyrji li tolkoz A? <<< which means "the standard engine boosted to 1.6 bars - will a renault engine withstand that boost?"
So please help me by shutting his BIG SHITTY mouth!

Might want to take a look at the Nissan 350Z's engine That can be turbo'd and is renault/nissan thingy.

Not sure what modern renault engines are actually turbo'd though.

BTW. 1.6Bar (Slightly over 23 PSI) is a hell of a lot of pressure on a std engine. Not sure how long it would last.

I was thinking about R5 or R11 or R21 turbos, we're talking about the old engines till '91-'92

Pretty damn special 'stock' turbine if it can maintain 23 psi! Would have to be a fair bit better than a sleeved T28 to manage it.
