ULF Update

Had a bot of an "off" on the Snake Pass about 10pm last wednesday night. Seemingly snatched too much brake in to a flattish l/hander, locked up and slewed in to the hill on teh right.

Lucky boy didn't roll and seemingly only knocked off the rubber splitter. However, the driver's side wheel is now sat about 1" nearer the driver's door. So here's the chassis:





So what you guys reckon? Clearly the stay bar or whatever it is is bent as, so I'm guessing the subframe is bent as well. Wishbones look ok, but tbh if I'm doing the frame I'll fit new wishbones anyway.

I also managed to break the 1st 1/2coil of spring on the passenger side, although looking at the cross section it may have been rotting away anyway.

Think its time for some more driving lessons mike lol...whats this the 3rd or 4th time now lol.

Check the strut housing to bulk head as they can tear off very easliy when knocked back.

new subframe, wishbones, arb, trackrod ends.

You'll also want to replace the stub axle/hub on the damaged side (don't ignore this, even if it looks ok do it anyway, the bearing will probably be knackered anyhow. Don't just get a new bearing pressed, actually get a new/second hand stub axle/hub).

If the wheel isn't sitting right then it'll be the subframe, as they seem to be designed to take the damage.

If your lucky the struts will be fine.

You could also get away with using the old arb, as they are fairly bendy, although if its bent, i'd rather just put a new/second hand one on.

1st time I've damaged a car and it's been my fault. ULF has certainly taken a good whipping over the years though.

that stearing arm rod looks bent and the track rod end im sure should be stright !

cant see much on the subframe but they are quite hard to see from pics.

Wish bones normaly are fine as the sub frame usualy bends first
