    alternator may be ****ed?

    any number of things:

    - check the coolant temp sensor, little white plug underneath the dizzy going into the block, unplug and clean it, make sure its tight

    - ISCV - idle speed control valve may be sticking, its on the inlet manifold near the throttle housing, it can be simply taken off and cleaned with carb cleaner

    - Lambda sensor - could be faulty or damaged so need to get an emissions check to see whats going on

    all easily sorted.

also check simple things like dizzy cap, rotor arm, leads, plugs etc...

    possibly blown head gasket

head gasket is possible, but a bit drastic, check all the connectors and the above list first before filling your pants with brown smelly stuff
