(With reference to your own vehicle being damaged, and not someone elses) >>> I was under the impression if it's YOUR insurance company then they have the right tot write it off, however if it's THERE insurance company then you have the right to demand a full repair.

I’m going to have another good poke around the engine bay tonight but it really sounded bad when I started it last night (like a diesel engine that’s done 200k). I’m going to ring my insurance company again and push for it being repaired. Cosmetic damage seems to be:

    Rear Bumper
    Boot
    Front Bumper
    All front lights and Grills
    Bonnet
    Front Wings
    New air filter
    Windscreen wipers
    1 speed line

There are no water (Rad still good) or oil leaks which is why I hoped it might still run smooth but no luck there

Please tell me your not claiming off your insurance, and your just contacting your company as they are dealing with his insurance for the payout/repair???

    Thanks Northy.

That’s around 1k to fix the cosmetics. I still need to get a mechanic round really to have a look at the engine.

Unless anyone here passes through Sheen/Mortlake/Richmond area that wouldn’t mind having a look or listen ??

Don't forget the rear of the car. How much damage is there?

how can he not. you were parked. got to be his fault.

He accepts liability but until my insurance people have that in writing they treat it as a claim.

Not much damage to the rear just needs a new bumper and boot. Although the boot might be able to be pulled out.

The Police have said that no crime has been committed!! Guess its not a crime to be a moron any more.

Well that's good news then about the claim. Make sure you don't loose the photo evidence

You may want to check the rear more by lifting the carpet and seeing if the boot is creased at all. Might need the rear section being replaced as well if it has been pushed in.

    Gutted for you :(
