ive got a bit of a problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I put the new cable in, following the guide.

But......... the clutch is still not engaging. (ie. the cable is to long) could it be due to:

    a) being the wrong cable? which i highly doubt as they motor factors took my reg plate

    b) could i of routed it the wrong way? meaning there is too much slack somewhere? and it should of gone round something

    c) the new cable is faulty

    d) something else i cant think off

Anyway im ordering a genuine renault 1 today and gonna have another go when i get it but at the moment im stuck without a car

There could be a problem with your pedal.

    Mat.

i also thought that too mat as when the pedal is set it will engage gear but if i let the clutch out all the way it makes the noise like when you tighten your handbrake and then it wont pull the cable as far as needs as its on the last notch if you get what i mean

Ive fitted a genuine cable and its still not right, its only letting it go in gear when it wants too, sometimes its ok, then other times it wont work, so am i right in saying that it must be the pedal then?

Ive just rang citroen for the clutch pedal and they cant get one till tuesday, anyone know anywhere else i could get one sooner?

incorrect routing wouldn't cause this problem, as the cable is still the same length, so as long as its clipped in at both ends, your not changing the length of the operating cable. so routing doesn't matter.

Have you correctly feeded the cable over the top of the ratchet? I'm guessing that if you've done this with a gen/aftermarket cable then your problem is a broken pedal/ratchet.
