    Williams 1, 226 of 400, massive history! £3995 Open to offer

    Renault Clio Williams 1,

    Model number 226 of 400,

    Renault Williams Clio 1 in 449 Sports blue, in standard original phase one (ph1) condition with one of the most comprehensive service histories of any Williams you will find. I have a massive folder of receipts with the car including old MOT’s, V5’s, service and part bills (pictured). This is a fine example of a car that is becoming rarer by the day.

    History of the Williams;

    The Williams Clio was designed and built by race engineers of the Renaultsport Clio Cup competition. With a 2ltr 16v engine delivering 150bhp @ 6100rpm, the Williams Clio has a maximum speed of 134mph and reaches 62mph in 7.8 seconds (Official Renault statistics)

    Standard Williams specification including;
    150bhp, 2.0 16v Engine,
    Wider Front Track than the 16v, Uprated Suspension front and rear over the 16v,
    Williams Badges on Rear Arches and Tailgate,
    Immaculate condition gold speedline wheels with polished outerlip,
    Colour-coded rear tailgate spoiler

    Excellent condition original Williams interior including;
    Williams sill plate in black
    Williams Stitched interior with lumbar support and height adjustment
    Blue Seat Belts
    Blue Dials (Speedo, Rev Counter, Oil Pressure, Oil Temperature, Oil Level, Coolant Temperature)
    Blue Gear Knob
    Blue Carpet in main cabin area
    Electric Windows, Power Steering, Central Locking

    History of L125 HOP;

    An original prize car won by Allister Lolye for the Gerard Motor Sport team at the end of the 1993 RenaultSport Clio Cup championship, the vehicle being number 226 of a limited edition run of 400 right-hand drive vehicles imported to the UK.

    The first owner was Roger Gillam, who was the accountant for Gerard Motorsport, being first registered on 01/01/1994 as ‘RDG 25’
    During ownership Mr Gillam had the following modifications made;
    · Engine management chip fitted by Detection Techniques, Buckingham
    · Electronic traction control by Racelogic Ltd (At a cost of over £1000)
    · A Gemini ‘Anti-Theft Super’ alarm and immobilizer (CAT 1)
    The car was Renault serviced throughout ownership.

    The car was then sold to the second owner, Paul Palmer who purchased the vehicle on 16/12/1995 from Gerard Motorsport, the mileage was 29,000. Prior to the sale the registration was changed to L268 LMO on 29/09/1995.
    During ownership Mr Palmer had a scorpion exhaust fitted and a cobra electronic immobilizer.
    The vehicle was serviced by the owner, with receipts to prove.

    On 23/09/1996 the vehicle was sold by Gerards of Loughborough to Philip Tuckey, the recorded mileage was 40,000 miles.
    The vehicle was serviced by the owner, with receipts to prove.

    The fourth owner was Jonathon Warner who acquired the vehicle on 09/09/1999, the registered mileage was 58,000 miles.
    Prior to purchase the registration was changed twice:
    On 26/05/1999 to JU5 by Julian Gerard
    On 14/07/1999 to l125 HOP.
    Mr Warner had a magnex performance exhaust fitted, the vehicle was serviced by Micheal Penney, former race engineer to the Gerard Motorsport Team.

    Michael Lord purchased the car on 20/07/2002 when the recorded mileage was 77,500 miles.

    The current mileage is 97,000, just 500 miles ago a full service was carried out.

    Included with the car is the original Renault handbook, service + warranty book, HPI certificate, original Williams brochure (very rare), two sets of keys with Clifford alarm fobs and a huge stack of receipts dating back to 1994.

    I have no idea on price as I havnt seen a williams for sale with this much history for a long time, ill put it up at £3995 but I am open to offers.

    Wow! That's a cool history!

    Just curious - does the traction control still work? What's it like?

    Yeah it still works, doesnt make any (notable) difference in the dry but in the wet its awesome, you can be as heavy footed as you like and it just holds its line. I would like to take it off and put it on my white track car but I dont have the time or knowledge, lol
