    Changing track rods

    Im trying to change the NS track rod as mines bent


    but.. how the hell do you unscrew it from the rack? theres no notches or anything on it?

    Undo the big nut that's up against the track rod and then just unscrew it. If you need to you can counterhold the track rod with a spanner, it has flats on it.

    can also put a ring spanner over the track rod end to give a bit more leverage, use WD40 and some welly

    I can't see how

    I thought those notches might have something to do with it - but bent a screwdriver trying to rotate them

    There's a self locking washer inbetween the rack and the track rod, there complete b*sterd to unscrew... if you use two huge mole grips you should be able to unscrew them but you will need a new washer after.

    Use two pipe wrenches that close and grip it as you turn it, gouges it ti **** but if you are removing it its not a problem, one goes on the washer closest to the rack and other on wider part, it is a complete bitch to do, when i got my new track rods from GSF they dint' come with any new locking washers (you'll see what i mean when you take them off), and you really need to replace them as they get trasshed unscrewing them
