I'd be very keen for someone to explain how and why they are different?

There are many differences, put simply, the Williams has a wider suspension track, wishbones etc... and from i remember they are actually different with regards to the bolt fitment spacing... but im sure some of the gurus will clear it up.
safe to say, Valver suspension wont fit on the Williams.. total different geometry.
It's to do with the bolt holes on the bottom of the strut, they're in the wrong place and 16v struts on a williams gives stupid amounts of negative camber, they won't work without modification to the holesOriginally Posted by drsmith1979
The bottem of the hub is pushed out... so the top needs to match to keep it all square, with no upper wishbone, the only thing to do this is the suspension strut and the spaceing of the bolt holes.
This is how camber bolts adjust the camber etc.
Valvers have narrower track, so if you put out the bottem (ala williams) you get some pretty funky suspension geometory
