    Wanted - Williams Clio £2.5k to £3.0k

    Hi,

Curently just started looking for another Clio Williams.

    Owned a Willi 1 some 6 years ago - number 101....

Wanting to pay between £2.5k and £3k but want the car to have the following...

Full History with cambelts etc. done when needed.
    Clutch and Gearbox replaced.
Minimal rust, especially on arches, boot, underside of doors etc.
    Generally in good condition.

I would ideally prefer a Willi 1 or 3 but am open to a 2.

I have looked at 8 cars already and none meet my expectations - Am I too optimistic with the money I am looking to spend?
Does anyone have a car they are looking to sell?
Any thoughts / comments that yuo have would be appreciated - many thanks!!

    Your asking a lot!

FSH, All belts recently done, new clutch and box which is lots of £££ why would anyone sell one that they've done that too??

I'm not asking for them to have been recently done - just done when they should have been.... I know what they cost....

Having had a Williams and had the clutch and gearbox fail on me I feel it is important to find a car that has had this work done at sometime...

If you are telling me I am unlikely to find a car or that people will be unwilling to sell a car with these requirements then so be it....

If I have to go over £3k for the right car then I will....

Williams between 2 and 3k are not the best examples around they usually have been abused. 4k would probably get you a nice looked after one.
Prices seem to be going up recently after the slump they were in last year

Claire - I have looked at 8 already between £2k and £3k and none of them were what I am looking for.... the general feeling is that I will have to raise my budget to get what I want.....

£2 to £3k is going to be 'project' money

I will never win any prizes for it at the moment but Its the most solid one I saw, lots of history to back up mature owners (bar the last one lol) and drives much better than my valver ever did.

To get this one perfect I reckon it'll have cost me in the end way over £4k but thats how I wanted to do it..

On a personal note I'd much rather have one thats still on its original gearbox and possibly clutch - like mine is.. Why have they been changed? has it been abused? You'll generally find the good uns have been pampered and driven well so there is no need for new boxes and clutches...

If mine ever goes I know for a fact that Its been done and its new from me owning it - which means it'll last forever as I know how to treat my car.

I could sell you a mint £3k car that I 'state' has had both done but aren't - do you get where I'm coming from?

Daz - so you would look more towards history in terms of owners and mileage rather than necessarily what the car has had done??

I'm pretty confident I can tell in terms of driving experience what constitutes a good car or a bad car....

Claire - would that £4k be private or retail???
