    K836EYP - Dead

Im gutted, only 10 days away til i move to ibiza for the summer and my valver dies :( got my mate to have a look at it after some quite disturbing clunking noises coming from the engine when i reached 3000rpm, verdict "the big end bearing is f****d."

Now I was always intending to replace the engine in the future with a 2.0 but that was way in the future. I reckon my car will be off the road for close to a year as I save some money and get everything sorted, (widetrack, shocks, brakes, paintwork etc.)

I would like to know what sort of price im looking at to get a rebuilt 2.0 put in, I wanna get as much power as possible but cant afford throttle bodies or a turbo conversion. My gearbox ive got at the moment is less than a year old (recon from renault) from what I understand it wouldnt last long on a 2.0 engine so does that mean ill have to fork out another 750 on a new gearbox?!
Any help, tips or suggestions would b great!!

I paid £1500 for a rebuilt Williams lump, that was a bare block too, had to build it up with all new ancilliaries

Got it from Grey Devil Industries (GDI) - some people fault their work but i couldnt. It ran exactly as you would expect from a 'new' engine.

I had a figure of around £1500 in mind, am i going to need a lot more than that?

what work can i do myself to keep the costs down?

why not just use a r5gtt gearbox, no one breaks them on rtoc as much as people break valver and williams boxes on here and the majority of r5's have alot more torque than williams and valvers. can pick them up for £50 as well. only problem would be the speedo sender that you should be able to swap with a valver one
