    Megane Sump

is the megane sump the same shape as the williams f7r? ie does it fit and can it be used? also does it attach using the same torx fixings as the f7p/r?

    many thanks in advance :D

Yes looks the same, although I have not tried to swap my 714 sump over to a Williams lump, but I am pretty sure it would be a straight swap.

1 notable difference is the position of the plug... it's smack bang in the middle of the bottom, rather than at the back like a willy sump.

I hope there the same as i have a megane sump as spare in my garage.
can get some pics of it if needed.
Dont see why they would be different as its the same block, all thats different is the oil pump configuration on the later megane bottom ends.

i presume this means a f7p one wont fit a 714 lump then?

also aside from oil starvartion is there any other reason a main bearing would spin (number 1 to be precise) the engine still turns so its not a complete siezure

i presume you're talking to me summeh. basically i have the opportunity to buy a meggy b/e which as been removed as its spun a main bearing. i dunno which model it is yet. but the sump has a crack in it (leading me to belive that this is the reason for failure for obvious reasons) i'm getting the micrometre out first to check the crank is still within tolerance and that the block casings and caps are not damaged before commiting to buy. I have a full spare f7p to use everything i need off it to rebuild the 2.0l progressively but i'm working out costing before i buy it as i can imagine getting a megane sump will be a pain in the arse if its a 714 lump? and also an extra cost.

    I think a F4R sump might fit...

you should also check the oil pump for internal damage.

Defo measure up the crank tho :D
