    Kumho Tyres. Anybody have any opinions on them please?

    I'm trying to find a 205/40/16 tyre and it seems choice is limited. It would seem if it I were to pick a 45 profile then there is much more choice, or, if I step up to 215.

    However, I think 215 may be slightly too wide especially with the car being lowered.

    Because the alloys (I hope to buy) will be 16's I am thinking of going for a 40 profile to avoid any scrubbing issues (just incase!). ;)

    I have found that Kumho do a tyre called ECSTA SPT KU31. For the price it seems to be a decent performer. - £46.30 per corner!!

    So I've tried to see what people make of it and none have said a bad word about it and "tirerack.com" rate it as 7th place against other tyres.

    Might be a guniea pig and try these when the time comes. Tread pattern looks similar to the Eagle F1's as well.

    Ive just bought new skins for my new Speedline alloys and i opted for
    Goodyear GSD3's - The eagle F1s.

    Theyre absolutely phenominal for grip and there meant to be just as good in the wet - only thing is it hasnt rained for a while so i havent had a chance.

    I bought 4 195/50/15's, V-rated for £205 which included fitting and balancing to my new alloys.

    That's what I'm running now mate, love them, like you say the grip is awesome. However, for the size I'm after they don't make them unfortunately. :( You'd think they would like, but nevermind.

    Typical - dont know much about them aussie ones but i know kumho are big on the rally scene co they cant be that bad.

    Aye, cheers mate, I don't think many people will know about them tbh. But worth asking.

    kumho started off as a really budget brand, but over the past 5 years or so they have steadily moved up the ladder and produce some excellent tyres. they also do some track day/road legal tyres that are supposed to be the knackers! although i cant find them anywhere. had them on lots of cars, Evo, 5 series, 3 series, celica etc.. great tyres for a great price, although they are getting a tad more expensive these days

    I had kumho's on the back of my willy 4 yrs ago when I first got it... Took a corner at a speed I thought would be fine, the back end came right out and just managed to catch it, fish tailing at 70mph... was not fun. F1's don't have a problem with the same corner. Anyway thats my experience of kumho's

    Have the KU31 on the clio for more than a year now. All round good performing tyres, behaves like most modern performance tyres. That is, handles quite neutral in dry and slightly understeery in the wet. Quiet and slightly more comfortable than most performance tyres. But if you like the handling characteristic of Goodyear F1 (ie: slight oversteer in dry and wet), you may find this, and indeed most other performance tyres, a tad boring.
