Could you build a "new" williams/valver?

Just a thought really - I know someone on Passionford built a "new" Cossie using a 3-door shell, and it ended up on a Y-plate

So, given that for it to have a new plate it has to be like 95% new or something, can you buy everything that you'd need?

    I'm guessing you'd need:

shell + all exterior lights, plastics etc
    all suspension
    wheels
    engine + associated bits
    interior

From what I can tell, the shell's £1500, the suspension is about £1k (going from my widetrack conversion), wheels are £800 if you get willy wheels, interior is probably pretty hefty...

I reckon the only serious, serious outlay would be the engine.

If you did it yourself I reckon you could get one on the road for under £8k?

Arse indeed. I know they're a fair bit older but I wasn't impressed when I was told they no longer have any ph1 manual sunroof frames etc.

    Edited to add:

Basically they now winding down non-essential bits. Basically if you were to crash one lightly etc, there's a chance most of the bits can be got, but other items aren't classed as essential.

Iread somewhere on a Pug forum that to build a 205 gti 1.9 from scratch using all new bits would cost nearly 50k,now i dont know if thats true, sounds really steep to me but i know how much Peugeot spares can be like Renaults

I wouldn't be surprised if it cost £50k to build a new 205, to be honest. I'd be amazed if you could build a new Clio for £8k anyway! However, I'm pretty sure you could source enough new parts for the DVLA to class it as a new car if you really wanted to do it

I made an enquiry for Northy in similar post ~~ re: "re~shelling" instead of replacing the rear quarters etc,~~ these were/are about £600 for both, whereas a new shell was only £1100 ~~ unfortunately the shells are no longer available
