    Oil Pressure Readings. What do you get? Opinions?

    I am abit worried about my oil pressure reading...I run 5w40 semi synthetic oil of high quality and do oil and filter changes every 3-4K but I am worried that oil pressure is not brilliant. It hasnt missed a beat or tapped etc but the guage seems to be reading lower than i'd like. My readings are;

    Cold Start in morning = 4.5 - 5Bar
    40*C = 2.5Bar
    60*C = 2Bar
    80*C = 0.5 - 1Bar
    100*C = 0.2 - 0.5 Bar

    These are around about figures that i've spotted and are idle figures. When driving at around 2.500rpm figures are;

    Cold Start = At the top 5.8Bar ish
    40*C = 4Bar
    60*C = 3Bar
    80*C = 2.2Bar
    100*C = 2Bar

    When im flat out and oil temp is around 100*C, oil pressure doesnt seem to rise over 3Bar. Once again, no dodgy noise's at all and the engine sounds like a good one in my experience. No bottom end knock in the morning at all. What do you all think?

    Gauges are about as accurate as ......a gauge that isnt accurate.

    If your not happy with your engine then give it to me, i wont complain about its oil pressure

    I dont really know about oil pressures tbh......

    I only know roughly what mine does, as tbh I dont take that much notice of the gauge.

    On cold start up it goes straight up to 5.5-5.9 bar right at the top on tick over.
    general driving round town when the car is warm usually fluctuates between 2-4 bar.

    On the motorway it is from 3-5 bar with temps never getting over 80. It has only ever got just before 80 on the motorway on a really hot day too.

    but hope this helps.

    :D

    look like similar oil presures to mine at 120 deg after a really hard run, the oil presure will sit at .5 on idle and go to about 3 on a run

    thats right F7P for me.

    The only time I have ever seen the oil temp go up anywhere near 100 was when I ran it on shite oil as I was trying out a few different types. I think it was the quantum oil that it ran hot on 10/40.
