    Uprated clutch - Suggestions/Recommendations please!

Right, i picked up an LUK (standard) clutch for my valver willy hybrid the other day, but after some thought i decided to take it back, as i might as well splash out a bit more and get a clutch i'm not going to kill in a week

So, i'm now after an uprated clutch. What do you lot recommend?

I used to have an uprated clutch on the valver engine, i don't know what it was, but it was very stiff on the pedal, although it worked very well.

Ideally i'm looking for something that doesn't make the pedal too harsh, i don't want my leg to ache when in traffic. The lighter it is, the better really, but i want something i can give a fair bit of welly.

Suggestions and recommendations are very welcome!

I've also been advised to get a 'soft pedal conversion', but i have no info on this, and i don't know where i can get it done, or whether its a DIY job, where i can get bits, etc.

Cheers for any info you can provide!

The renault 5 GTT "uprated" GSF clutch seems to be quite good, its for a volvo 440 turbo and can handle the power it seems.

The soft pedal conversion consists of a longer clutch fork and an extender mount thing that spaces the cable out from the box to give it more leverage and hence requires less force, these are used on volvos and also on the 172's, i'll post the part numbers in a minute

tony 16v had the uprated gtt clutch slipping in no time.. i'd say helix paddle clutch with the pressure plate from the uprated r5gtt kit.

LUK clutches are good by the way, TUV approved i think

Cheers willy lover, will certainly be looking at getting that i think!

How easy is it all to change over? Does the gearbox need to come off to swap the bits?

Can you still use a standard williams clutch cable with it?

    Gunner,

I know you've mentioned this before in a previous thread, but 'helix paddle clutch' means absolutely nothing to me, what is that?

Can you show me where i can get all the bits?

My willy engine is only pushing out about 160bhp so it doesn't need to be able to handle mega power, just something i can give more stick than a standard clutch without it slipping as much.

Also, don't want anything too much more expensive than a standard clutch either!

ahhh..no worries..then disregard the helixclutch. helix is the make, paddle is the style..
    here is a paddle:

they are ok up to silly BHP

for your application i would say the uprated gtt clutch.. it is like an on off switch though.... maybe the soft pedal kit would assist....

i have ran a valeo standard n my hybrid with no problems for 30k
