    newbie to renault williams

    hi all this is my first post and what i want to know is if i want to buy a clio williams which one should i go for at a push got about £4k to spend when i sell my old BSA.

    what are the major probs and serious stuff i should keep clear of got the idea that corrosion is a prob already oh and gearboxes

    any good specialists in the s.yorks/humbs area

    any info appreciated

    williams 1!
    Gearboxes are made out of chocolate, so if you can, buy a spare one.....

    any particular things i can check when looking for a car especially if i get to drive it why do you advise the williams 1 :D :D

    Suggestion for the williams 1 is basically the only williams with a number plaque, rusty rear arches, rust under tailgate. Full service history is pretty much a must on these cars too.

    is the number plaque relevant in anyway take it that the 2 and 3 dont

    1s were a run of 400 and were plaqued accordingly, then much to the disgust of williams1s owners they decided to do a 2 and 3 of a similar run number but without plaques. 2 was 480 and 3 was 390 i think, someone will correct me there. But ehy are all getting rarer even the ones with the funn shade of blue and hole in the roof (sorry W3 owners just jesting)

    i see not really a prob for me just looking for a good example and really need to know what probs i can expect the gearbox seems fragile

    crappy steering coloumns, GB that are poo, discoloured coolant, just basic maintanance of engine bays, things missing, if you get a standard one thats best. but lots have been modded. you can get a minter if you look hard enough
