i would hazard a guess that if it goes when u dip the clutch, then when u come off power and dip the clutch the egine rocks slightly forward,so i would say poss a mount that moving the engine bk and touchin on something?

my 172 does this, turns out its my top engine mount which i changing this week

well its not just the bracket that is missing, the bolt that holds it on is too, i was thinking that the lack of the bolt might mean the mount isnt being held on as well as it should be and the engine/box is being allowed to move too much

You said that the vibration stops when you dip the clutch.......therefore it must be related.

You dont check your dipstick when your ABS breaks.

where the bracket bolts to the mount , there is no support for anything else there...no bolt, no bracket..all good.
