would do decat after the stainless for 2 reasons:

    1) decat on stock system sounds bloody horrible

    2) decat will blow the baffles out the exhaust! lol

I'd get it running how it should be first.

worn bushes/joints etc would be my first port of call...then modifying.

I don't want to turn this into the "brake dust thread", but DS2500 in Nissans guise (and I assume it is the same material used) produce excessive brake dust compared to many other brands. Perhaps it's the heavier car = more wear. Whatever it is, they are still awesome pad, although others prefer 'porterfields'.

    Anyway...
Exhaust/filter/decat (decat = more high end torque, less low end torque).

Then move onto brakes before making any more power. I agree with stan that replacing worn bushes/parts first will yield great results Any car over 10 .
years old (and some under that) will benefit vastly from new bushes)

after a hefty wax and polish, my first mod was a williamsclio.co.uk window sticker.

(still waiting for my replacment mr northy)

ive done exhaust and decat, and am now still going through the process of getting the standard things done.

clutch, pas, rust (tailgate, drivers door, rear arch (second time - first bodyshop used filler and its a shite job) gearbox refurb on thursday).

if i get a good couple of months, i will have some pennies to look into cams.

i will have spent over 4k after the gearbox and arch is done. that doesnt include the purchase price.

but its still the best looking/performing car pound for pound.
