    172 engines

Ok we know from heresay and anecdotes that there is a wide variation in the power of the 172 engine.

I was speaking to Nick Hill this afternoon about exhausts and he told me he was working on a number of 172 engines he has as he is trying to get one in a racing spider.

Well he is assessing the different engines. And has found some interesting facts.

Firstly, he says that the inlet and exhaust manifolds look like they are off different cars. Massive difference between the machining in them.

Secondly, he says the weight of the crank shafts differ by upto 6lbs!!!! I beleive the weight of the crank shaft is 30 lbs in total so the weight differs by a massive 15 odd percent.

If you got a dodgy inlet, outlet manifold and a heavy crank you could call your car a 127?
