    Odd steering problem?

Hi, alright I was travelling normally about 30mph, suddenly the car starts going slightly to the left even though the steering wheel was the same! a few turns later and it was alright again?!

Someone mentioned play in the rack and welding, could it be related? its a 94rt

    thanks.

When stationary, with engine off, if the steering play is more than 2cm either way - the steering joint is probably loose.

If that's OK, then jack up the front wheels and push the wheels hard with your hands. If there is unusual play on either wheel, then check balljoints, wheelbearings or suspension bushings.

Will do, cheers, the NSF bearing has just started to whine, would that be a cause?

I would suspect that after checking that the steering is OK. Though, sometimes wheel bearings can make heck of a racket for months without affecting the car in any way.

ok, just checked the steering and it's very easy to move the wheel each way but when I look out at the wheels the wheels are actually moving slightly each way
