    Sorting rusty arches

my valver has the usual rusty arches and i want to get em sorted...

Got a local welder who said he would get rid of the rust and tack a bit of metal over the arch to bring its shape back. He only wanted about £60 a side (unpainted) but can you do this? the arches arnt flared, so surely sticking a plate over them would stick out like a sore thumb? :/

Another place down in Exeter have quoted me £840 to do them, £700 of which being labour. They detailed having to take seats and bumpers off etc to do the work, so maybe if i do those it will be a bit cheaper.

So, how much have other people been quoted/charged (and where from) to do arches and what were the results? I don't mind spending up to about £400, does this seem reasonable?

i was quoted £350, for welding, labour and paint e.t.c by a very good bodyshop close to me.

£840 is excessive, search else where. This bloke that does it for £60 sounds a little dodgy, get it done at a proper bodyshop or the rust will rear its ugly head again in no time.

£840 - Is he gonna paint the rest of the car for that as well????

I had my arches sorted when I had a full paint job. The rust was cut back and replacement panels put in similar to above.

I paid 1100 for all the work done, which included digging out dodgy filler out off the door locks and boot lid and sealing/replacing. The person who had it before me had de locked and removed the rear wiper but done a poor job by not sealing it properly and water had got in. I was quoted £900 for my full respray without this work done.

I'd be looking at no more that 250.

If you have a good one might as well pay good money and get it done properly imo!

£250 seems to be the going rate. I paid £40 but its come back
