    insurance help

i am selling my gti-6 at the weekend to buy an escort van.i have just finished paying the last installment of my insurance (which was over 1100 quid) and i have 3 months left to run on the pug. however my insurance company do not insure van's and they said they will give me a refund of whats left of my policy (wont be much as it expires in august).but i will lose my years no claims.

then they can put me through to a seperate department to quote me on the van.obviously i dont want to lose a years no claims so was going to just let the policy run even tho i sell the car.

any1 know a way i could insure the van for 3 months? til the other policy expires or another way around it??

they only do up to 28 days, but im sure you could keep re-doing it.

however, check the T's & C's (modded vehicals arnt covered etc).

these are the T's & C's as far as im aware but double check:-

    the vehicle must:

be registered in Great Britain, Northern Ireland or the Isle of Man.
have a current market value of less than £40,000.
have no more than 8 seats (including the driver's).
    not have been modified.
    not have been imported.
not be used for the carriage of goods or passengers for hire or reward.
not be used to carry hazardous goods (other than the carriage of less than 10 kg of bottled gass, or 10 litres of flammable solvents in one container.
not be used or driven at any hazardous location.

they want £10 a day tho and need it for 10 weeks so not really an option.
my insurance said i can take out a new policy on the van with no no claims then when my car insurance finishes in august can add the 4 years on it.this seems like the only option , it just i have just finished paying monthly for my insurance thoughtid have few months of spare cash but means i have 2 pay deposit now....

I deal with a company that does 3 month policys.

Depends how extreme the van is and what youll be using it for...

If its just an escort van i should be able to help you, as long as you dont use it for work (your own business if youre self employed)...

Ring 0113 260 8337 and ask for me, mike.

Im quite confident Ill be able to help you but dont get your hopes up mate, Im not making no promises...its subject to your circumstances being acceptable.

    Mike
