It had 16 new tappets as part of the rebuild so i think it must be oil starvation to the lifters or head generally. I made sure i blew out all the oil holes in the cam journals etc with the air line...
The specialist guy has now found the problem, after three and a half days of solid labour (£££!) it turned out to be a faulty bloody ignition coil even though this was replaced a couple of weeks ago...
Bitten the bullet and taken it to a management specialist I've used before and if he can't fix it then I'll know that I am not destined to enjoy Renault ownership and that generally the french hate...
Yeah shouldn't be the head gasket.
The idle fluctuates when warm yes from normal idle to low and then when fully warm it will start but just not maintain any real idle speed.
The engines been fully rebuilt (by me though) with new gaskets etc. Plus theres no evidence of oil in the coolant so I'd be surprised if it was head gasket and it runs ok until warm (a bit of top end...
Sorry, yeah when you first start it from cold it idles at 900 pretty much rock solidly but then when it starts to warm up the idle just starts getting more and more unsteady with the revs climbing...
Yeah I was wondering about fuelling as everything I've used is in unknown condition. The injectors came with the car as spares and were (aledgedly) ultrasonically cleaned but can't be sure, fuel...
Also replaced flywheel sensor........forgot about that.
After having loads of idle/starting problems I've now been through all the management sensors and basically replaced the lot. The starting problem turned out to be the coil pack so replaced that but...
Ah, just read above posts, maybe not same part then. Plus price was excluding VAT......best off getting 2nd hand as a bit bloody pricey!
Valver oil level sensor (77 00 826 667) = £56.96 (back order)
Presumably same for Williams but not checked part numbers.

You should only just be able to get any movement if you press down on the belt in the middle of the cam sprockets, should be very tight there so personally I'd take it off and retension it to be safe.
Is this still available?
Anyone got a CAT to suit a MK1 with a standard 16V downpipe? Looks like I need one to get through emissions.

As title, working valver/williams cooling fan needed.

Sounds like old age is setting in. Only a matter of time before you start hankering after beige slacks and tartan slippers.
Hi,
I need a pair of Valver/williams spark plug covers (top & bottom) as mine seem to have warped over winter and now won't fit back on.
Preferrably decent condition.

Anyone got a decent cond. top engine mount for sale?

I'll dig mine out from under the pile of car bits and check the condition. If it's knackered I'll be in touch.
Still after a standard oil cooler in good condition.
Any news on the soild coolant pipes?
Cheers (both) for replying. Think I'll probably need the cooler and the solid pipes as somebody ran my car without coolant for quite a while and all the solid pipes have rusted inside along with the...
Already asked this on Clio16Valver but no luck.
