Yes mate it earths onto the bell housing via the bracket. No wire. The white wire should have 12v's going to it as this it the low tension wire which operates the solenoid and pushes the starter...

Yes it is lowered. Was originally about 100mm at the back apparently, but was too low for my liking. So brough it up about an inch, inch and a half. Front is on Gaz coilies.
