If comfort is a priority go for the correct size of 185/55/15... both those tyres I'm sure will be very good.

16v Paddy swears by Avon ZV7 and by comparison to some tyres are relatively...

The oil leak could be from the inner driveshaft boot as this is common...worth a look.

It is in the Williams register on this forum but very little info about it....I can only guess that it was being used very little but stored outside which may account for the repeated MOT failures.
