anoying clunk / knock

got this anoying knock when pulling off in 1st gear, i have changed all the mountings and is still there,the gearstick looks as if its got to much back and forward movement is this normal, have the mountings got to be set in a certain way or are they one off and one on, i have run out of ideas now so has anyone had this problem and solved it, :?

My be your exhaust mate. Mine sounds like ive got a shaft problem when i go round right bends lol. Its my exhuast rubbing on the dogbone engine mount :evil:

checked the exhaust, not that, if i play with the clutch on off on off it will knock every time without driving any where just in my driveway

You will get a little bit of movement in the gearstick.

Unrelated to that, but something that makes a loud clonking noise is the lower ball joints. Worth changing these, they are about £12 from GSF each. Easy job, only 3 bolts.

I'm doing mine at the weekend, but I'm changing both the wishbones on mine as my car is eating balljoints!!
