I have a decat and I'm going to get the new exhaust fitted on Wednesday, so should I get the decat fitted aswell??

Will it make a significant difference to justify taking it on and off for MOT's???

No.. I don't think they're worth the hassle.

They also do on the spot emission checks now..

Yes, and if I'm right in assuming your willy is a 2 i.e. '95 or before, it should pass the emissions easy with the de-cat on......

My guess is it'll fail badly.
It's before 91 I think it don't matter.

lol..its not an on the spot fine... you will get a vehicle rectification defect scheme form.. and have 14 days to have an mot emissions test,.. the mot testers then stamp your form...and you produce it to the police station.

Well mine failed its French MOT hence buying a CAT, unless anyone can confirm otherwise its will make maybe 3-5 HP difference.

My DeCat didn't impress me at all on my 3.. but then, I had an induction kit on at the same time, which didn't help. Changed it back to standard all together.

what happens if you dont pass the emissions test/not bother doing the test or fail to go to the police station?

cant you just say you have been on a track day and have yet to change it back or summit?

There are stricter emission laws on vehicles after 1995, hence why my de-catted '95 valver flew past it's emission test.

If you dont turn up you get summosed t court, and then you can get fined...
if it fails you are effectively driving without an mot.........and can be again reported for summons.. then you could risk a fine up to a thousand pounds.

No it will fail. Only marginally though. Get a dodgy mot from a dogy garage :D

old sas tricks are:
to rag your vehicle before taking it the MOT test, use emmission lowering fluid, use a cat,.. and to tell them your engine is from a vehicle pre 1991 ... its the engine they test not the car.

Well my 95 Williams didn't, however I to have an induction kit and chip + limiter up to 7200. I am seriously thinking of going back to standard. Pushing the limits on these cars seems silly. I'm not sure much more power is that usable in the real world. I have never liked Hybrids, however I am rapidly changing my mind. I would love to drive a standard Willy to really see if its worth buggering around with it and what the performance difference really is. I am only interested in low down acceleration and overtaking, top end is pretty pointless!!

I agree Nick. Standard is fine for road use. Plenty fast enough
