anyone no if you gain or loose power if you fit a differrent thickness gasket to a 1.8 16V like a 1mm for a thin gasket to a 1.6mm for a thick gasket

Group N gaskets are 1.2mm

it'll change compression ration slightly, same as skimming the head does, not sure if its for better or worse tho, until engine management knows about it i.e. remap, i doubt it makes much difference!

i would put the 1mm gasket as this would gain you power, 1.6 would be dropping compression which will drop bhp slightly

use a thinner gasket over a thich one, can skim teh head too, btu its really not worth it, according to stan the most you can gain is about 0.5 cr(? units), and it makes timing in performance cams difficulkt, onyl realy way is forged pistons
