went to cs rr day at AMD bicester mine was one of three willys and one hybrid my car produced 166.9bhp at the flywheel im still stuned at what my car produced it was the fastest mk1 n/a there well chuffed last time i had it rr it produced 156.5 but have added a ktec silenced decat since then and got rid of my gay viper and replaced with px element add these to the magnex sys and low milage engine and i have got some good gains it held the power all the way to the limiter if this was raised slightly it would of given more the power curve went straight up and did not level off at all

Nice one, good power! I'd test it out down the 1/4 mile if I were you....

That engine still on 49k?

willy 0329
07-02-2005, 23:43
YES STILL UNDER 50k STRONG POWER CURVE ALL THE WAY TO THE LIMIT WAS MORE POWERFUL THAN SOME OF THE 172S

KingStromba

Look like you have a good one.

I THINK THE UPRATED CLUTCH HELPS HOLD THE POWER AS WELL THINKING OF DITCHING THE MANIFOLD FOR A KTEC ONE MINE IS BLOWING SLIGHTLY VERY ANNOYING

Good figures mate. Mine made 161.4bhp with backbox, decat and pannel filter and 133.2 lb/ft :).
I d be up for the group buy on the manifold (although pref a 16v one due to the decat/cat).

willy 0329
10-02-2005, 19:26
count me in on group buy

VIPERONE
10-02-2005, 19:37
what are the prices for the group buy then?

KingStromba
10-02-2005, 20:01
500 quid to you gunner

could try ktec theres are reduced at the mo anyway

Has anyone got any before and after mods RR figures. Would be interested in seeing how much difference decat/exhaust/induction makes?

KingStromba
11-02-2005, 10:33
Trouble is enid, even the same rr with the same operator on the same car can give massive differences in results. For before and after i still think the only way you will know is on a dyno. RR is just gueswork.

To me a RR is as accurate as going for a run one day. Then the next day doing the same run but in different trainers. You may go faster, you may not. But you cant say its the trainers that made the difference.

2 live
11-02-2005, 10:37
but dynos can be as inaccurate too

KingStromba
11-02-2005, 10:39
Surely a good dyno should be more accurate than a good RR

2 live
11-02-2005, 10:45
depends on which figures your after.the flywheel figures, or real on the road road at the wheel figures.....personally at the fly figures are pretty pointless unless ur tryin out difrent boxes to reduce transmission loss

KingStromba
11-02-2005, 10:49
Im really thinking about test results for components. A dyno will give more accurate results as to weather a filter for example allows better gains than an IK. Component testing is were its at. You can control everything to the nth degree to amass alot of useful data. If you see what i mean.

YEAH MATE I AGREE IN SOME RESPECTS.....

oooooooooooops il stop shoutin now lol

but if u want on the road improvements...u gotta leave the dyno alone........some mods could show massive improvements on the dyno, throw a box on and u mite completely destroy the cars characteristics..i.e in gear performance etc

best of both worlds is a rollers that u bolt to the hubs of the vehicle, apparently as accurate as a dyno with the added bonus of havin trans losses incorperated too

Well there's a surpirse. AMD rollers giving owners better results than they expected.

No offence mate, but I'd take that with a pinch of salt. I've heard a lot about those rollers.

some people were actualy down on power from other rr especialy the cliov6 only 225bhp with mods ?most of the other willys were between 155-160 bhp with slight mods mines got a good low milage engine that pulled clean all the way to the limiter and did not peak

Enid
11-02-2005, 19:16
Thats a bit of shame, guess you can only really tell through driving the car and judging throtle response/low and mid range pull etc etc. But even then you could end up convincing yourself that its faster or slower as the case may be.

KingStromba
11-02-2005, 21:09
TBH if your a good driver you shouldnt need a RR to tell you if your car is faster or not as enid says

at the end of the day my 12 year old car had better figures than some of the new ones makes it all worth while 8)

KingStromba

12 year old dinosaur as they say on cs

willy 0329

12 years on and what are the improvements basicly none just put more refinement into the cabin which kind of defetes the object of being a hot hatch make the cars heavier then give them a small power increase its like jeremy clarkson said cars from 10 years ago are just more exciting 8)

I think it must be broke Mat ...mine made 150 atw at Hillpower! As I said thats why I don't trust rolling roads!

MatBrown
12-02-2005, 17:34
What must be broke?

Possible your has alot of power but missing torque though Martin?

Martin
12-02-2005, 22:43
Tbh I think its just the nature of r/roads..they are never going to be truely accurate.

MatBrown
13-02-2005, 12:35
They are ok as long as you don't try comparing them with other Rolling roads as each one is different.
My result seems consistent with other standard Williams Nick has run.

What did it make on Nicks rollers Mat?

MatBrown

Yeah buy it back. You know you want to. :P

Back to the topic of conversation, rolling roads. A rolling road is in effect a scientific instrument in so far as it is a system of measurement. For any instrument to be effective in measurement it must be acruate and precise.

Accuracy means it must measure an unknown (in this case a cars BHP) to such a degree that it provides the correct figure in relation to a standard of known BHP. The instrument should be calibrated at intervals to prove that the tolerance from the standard has not deviated.

Precision means that each subsequent measurement of the same unknown (ie repeatedly measuring the same car) should give a figure that is almost the same. In science this is called haveing a low standard deviation of the mean.

As far as i can see, no rolling road i have seen in commercial use provides either accuracy or precision. In scientific terms it is therfore a usless instrument. You can argue the wheres and wherefores as much as you like, but no reputable institution could provide science based on such witch craft any more than you could prove the weight of a man by making a set of scales out of paper.

13-02-2005, 21:10
lol^^^^^^^^

but if u took a weight of paper to be 17 stone.then devised a see saw scale.ud know exactly how much he weighed lol........there u have ur paper scales.lol

KingStromba
13-02-2005, 21:11
But how would you know you had 17 stone of paper?

Daz
13-02-2005, 21:12
Haha, you'll end up going round in circles.. ;)
