The Evo was pretty much standard I think, but it's got a few more mods now. He'd not long had it, so was getting used to it. At least, that was his excuse :P

I really hope that 106 has some serious tools, otherwise i'm embarased for the lad in the Mak, the epitomy of 4X4 handling technology :lol:

Tbh his lines are shite. Fair enough if he's getting used to the thing but from what I've been told of the passenger's commentary I suspect it's more down to other things.

Yeah, his lines aren't great in places Merv. But then neither were mine. And as everyone else established previously ( :roll: ), neither are Kev's. Nor the majority of the people who go on track days.
Rott - the 106 (Rallye) has a 140bhp GTi engine, Koni suspension, larger GTi6 brakes and wheels, with Yoko semi-slicks and running completely stripped.
Ed certainly isn't the only Evo owner who has been slightly humbled by a modified (or standard) Hot Hatch before. I've seen it plenty of times before.
So you know the Evo driver then Zollo?
tbh trackdays are all about the driver.....as anyone whose done one will know! Skylines, evos, porsche etc are being driven like they are on a sunday drive lol

Yeah I know that Matt but you're lines really weren't that far off and you were tooling about.
Hard for me to judge tbh as I don't have sound.
Don't see why a heavier car can't get handed it's arse either. In such twisty bits the lighter car is always going to be more nimble no matter how well engineered the bigger one is. That's just the basic laws of physics.
Yeah, I know him and the passenger. They're good mates with Kev. As far as I can make out, Ed has the upper-hand over Kev now.
Although on a twisty track like Cadwell the epitomy of 4x4 handling technology isn't going to fair that much better than a very well modded Hot Hatch :twisted:

Agree totally, circuit racing is a funny beast, but the speed at which the 106 fled into the distance was astonishing, surreal infact, considering the TME is one of the best Evo's built, and i bet it was over the 300bhp mark too, most are, al it takes is a Xhaust and uprated panel, hey not takin owt away from anyone, always good to be brought back to earth once in a while, pity there wasn't some top end there to give him a good go :wink:

That is one slow ass Evo BTW, my brother has an Evo V and it has 330bhp at the fly, and is scarely quick. That think looked asthough it was hardly moving.
The litte Rallye was awesome, the reason I bought one :D , and just goes to show that you can go just as fast if not quicker in a small hot hatch round some tracks than big expensive Jap cars.
