or does anybody else ever struggle to get the oil cap and header tank cap off?

I've just spent 10 minutes ripping the palm of my hand apart for **** all, still couldn't get the header tank cap off to check my water. It's manky so I can't see through it

Yep, just slipped even quicker, lol.

Think I will order a nice new header tank so I can see through it

just do what i did - Break the wires for the thermo on the Rad, totally not notice it, pour in some engine flush, run on a high idle for 10-15mins during which grab a cuppa tea, go out switch the motor off then dive over the patio wall as the header cap spins it's self off - IN A HURRY, and do a coolant flush at the same time - 2 burd with 1 stone

In all seriousness, i got lucky this time, knew what id done straight way, so fired it back up and bridged the fan, what a tit, All coz of that F**kin oil filter

I use molegrips too.

Only cap I've been able to undo recently was the brake res. cap after mr 2Live screwed it on the other week.

Can't get the PAS, header or oil caps off without assistance.

I can always undo mine... well, with the right tools, but I use the same method to put it on as I do to take it off

i deliberatly screw up the header n p/s ones as tight as i can by hand then back it off bout 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn straight away. works a treat. oil is a different animal tho, without big pliers or mole grips am ****ed!!

Can't beat the "DANGER NOISES" as theyre refered to at my work, I work on a drillin rig, so EVERYTHING is big, heavy, and tight, so danger noises and nosebleeds are a everyday amusement, never get bored o them, specially with the new guy keen as fuuk, and out to impress, on ya go son!!!

I find when the oil cap is hard to get off using two hands can get it undone. If not good old mole grips
Mine have never been that tight though.

i found that a blunt screwdriver or a chissle with a hammer works, put it to one side and lightly ta it round!!

Just hit one side of it with a hammer. I can get mine off by hand but its hard work. The negative battery terminal is hard to get off aswell.

See ya

All this hitting caps etc. Are you all butchers?

If need be use a pair of mole grips BUT first put a rag on the oil cap etc before putting grips on. Nothing worse then chewed up caps.

Lol, PAS is a biatch to get off sometimes.

Header tank is usually ok, brakes.. i dont know about never taken em off.

Oil cap can be a **** aswell.

Lol also the positive battery terminal was uber tight, tapped it lightly with a hammer, that was the end of that fastener :P

If you keep slipping on the header tank cap, stick a fat elastic band round it so you increase the grip level - works for jars in the kitchen as well, for when you're feeling like the Mr Muscle man... LoL
