"off the shelf" chips will give little or no power gains.

they advance the timing slightly, often enrich the fuel injection, and raise the rev limter.

the increased limiter is handy meaning you can keep it in gear slightly longer, meaning when you change, the next gear will start higher up the rev band giving more pull. however on std cams i dont think there is much different to be honest!

the fueling and timing wont do much, because the mapping isnt suited directly to "your" car and "your" mods!

also there "may" be some relationship to having a chip with the "HILL POWER CHIP" thread! Worth reading IMO!

dont get me wrong, i like my Hillpower stage 1 chip. it does what it should, and for the price they are reasonable. however you get what you pay for and mapping on a rolling road is where its at! will cost you around 350 quid, and best to get all the engine mods done before you go down this route!

well thats my tuppence anyway!

spend you money on a nice subtle exhuast with decat pipe and itg pannel filter for your OE airbox.

has to be done first, then see if you like it. it gets expensive from there!

in order of cost.....

stainless steel exhaust manifolds
remapping
cams
headwork
individual throttle boddies
forged pistons, conrods, crank etc
turbo's

i'm not sure :?

i am thinking about it to make it a little faster but then for some reason part of me thinks that if i make the car faster, things are goin to go wrong with it sooner!

lol

i wouldnt wish to comment on remappers other than the only person i would use is the best in the business. Mr Wayne Schofield of Chipwizards.
a great purpose built rolling road and tuning suite.
