View Full Version : Oil Cooler
On my megane engine i've got the sandwhich plate, but think I am going to need all the pipes and a cooler, where can I get this from and how much am I going to be expecting to pay?
Cheers
Danny
as said above!
Its a water fed cooler. Uses your engine coolant to cool the oil down (as the coolant is at a lower temp than the oil!)
It dont work great, but does see slight differences over a valver without one!
spot on, so where do the two pipes sticking out of it attatch to?
2live, have you got a new number as the one i just tried to ring isn't working?

I might be able to supply you with the pipes needed.

They are water hoses. one connects to the bottom radiator hose section. the other connects to the metal pipe than runs on the TB side of the head. (IIRC)
As Mat is sayin, looks like you will need new, willy hoses! (Time for some silicon hoses! )
depends on hose ends. if the sandwich plate has smooth pipe take offs then its an oil to water cooler and you need coolent hoses. if it has threads its an oil to air cooler and you need pipes and an oil cooler
danny while u have the chance change it to a air fed oil cooler!
it will be for coolant pipes dude. no way there would be a random oil cooler sandwich plate and no pipes or cooler.
Its just valver coolant hoses wont have this as there is no cooler on F7P's!
Well thats a bit of a nightmare as i've got a full set of samco blue 1.8 hoses and now they won't fit!!!!!ot oh!
Will they fit if i get an air oil cooler, how much are those?
Danny
u could run std 1.8 hoses if u got a oil cooler and piping, u will need a new sandwhich plate to as more then likely be screw thread as mentioned above! other then that u should be able to remove it and fit filter on its own iirc
ahha!
yeah if you get a reno sandwich plate and cooler then yeah prob. would be around 20-30 for the plate, and around 50 for the cooler. then hoses another 30 or so. I think i priced it at around 150 quid all in!
not much point imo, unless you are tracking it a lot! just get a bit of hose for the bits your missing. shouldnt be a big job!
if you do get a air-oil cooler then get a thermostatic sandwich plate, so it will only kick in at 90 deg c. you want the oil hot!
yes they will fit and about 150 from bbpt but cheaper else where prob
