Im sure there must be something wrong with my car.

Nearly filled up the other day (it didnt click off), but the petrol gauge still went to just over full tank :D

Ive done 130 miles since then (80 of them being motorway), and im already to half a tank. Which works out at like 24mpg.

Ive got a PiperX induction kit and a "mycar" superchip. I have tried driving it relatively calmly aswell during this test.

What can i test to see if its over fuelling or running rich. Its not leaking as far as i can see either.

Thanks

My hybrid is pants on fuel as well. I'm getting about 100 miles max to half a tank, but that is local driving.

I have noticed that there is a really strong smell of petrol when I first start the car from cold? Could it be the seal on the cold start injector?

Cheers

James

maybe, tbh most cold start injectors dont even work so its doubtful, if you worried best thing to do is just prime the fuel pump a few times without turning it over and have a look for leaks that way as the system will be pressureised enough to force it out of any holes

Check to see if you get a stronger smell of fuel with teh blowers on hot when sat stationary

Make sure its not the flue lines going up to the fuel rail, as these tend to crack over tiem, this is why bayliss' old car set on fire IIRC, and i had the same problem with my RSi, but i replaced them before they completely broke

Checked the fuel lines when I fitted the F7R a couple of months ago and they were fine. I will check again though and check all other parts of the system.

It doesn't smell worse with the blowers on hot, it only smells when cold.

I'll prime the fuel pump a few times as Rich suggested as well.

Cheers fellas

Is it worth me checking any sensors? should i clean up the CTS, you reckon that might help?

try unplugging the battery for an hour or so, hence resetting the ECU

Maybe i am just making a fuss, and its not overfuelling or anything and they naturally drink this much...

Well that practically what im getting, its now at 145 miles and mid way between 1/4tank and 1/2tank.

The last 1/4tank never lasts anyway, the needle always goes practically straight from the quarter tank line to the red line lol.

I seriously think something must be wrong. remember 80 of those miles were 70 MPH on the motorway. The rest being slow - medium town driving.
