I wonder if anyone can fill in a few gaps for me.....

I may have found a possible donour engine (clio 172 with loom and entire inlet + pos ECU) for my project at a very attractive price (It's not nicked! it's through a friend).

Now i know it's the same block as the Williams F7R has the same crank, bore and obveiously stroke. Now I assume that it has different pistons & ringpack, or ringpacks atleast to cope with the higher piston speeds (is it 7200rpm?.... on 172) and wonder wether the conrods are different too.

On to the head, now being unsure of too much detail on the 172, I know it has variable valve timing, Is it on inlet or both? Also is the port size, shape and angle the same as a meggy head (pref post 97) and valve size and combustion chamber shape the same?

Also  if anyone knows of any other anoying differances that might cause problems.....

Cheers for any help, Jonny

P.S. Throttle body, all sensors, loom, ECU and cams might be up for sale soon.....

your way off mate, different block, different bore, different stroke

Takes a lot of work to whack it in a mk1

Custom mounts the works IIRC, as above block is different

F4R compared with F7P/F7R

Not worth it imo, better to use a meggy bottom end. better gains to be had for the cash if your into that!

goes straight in, bar the gearbox rear mount, use the 2 F4R mounts and it goes in the Mk1 bay, but from then on you may aswell use a custom ECU, 16v driveshafts fit.

A LOT of work
