When I went to see James at LTR, he told me he could get them for £40, obviously not renny parts, but everywhere else I look want closer to £100. Anywhere know where I can get them cheaper?

tbh with the full kits.....its gotta be reno.

most motor factors will be able to get them cheaper....but u get wot u pay for......and its not worth scrimpin on quality when it comes to cam belts n pullies..........itl only cost u more in the long run usually.

What's a renny kit gonna cost me? £125 least?

Garage down the road said they would charge me £75 plus parts to sort it, gonna get water and oil pump done while I am there

Renault just quoted me £84 + VAT for the timing belt kit, but want £147+VAT for the oil pump  Christ.

Also, my car started knocking like mad on Fri/sat so I haven't driven it. I put some 10w40 in it on thurs night and now it sounds like it's got a knackered lifter. Could this just be shit oil, or could something have actually gone?

It's like a tapping noise from the rocker, like their is no oil in the engine, but there is. It is louder when it's warmed up

Renault Manchester charged me £90 + VAT for the full kit.

Then the garage across the road from them did the work for £175 + VAT.

you could try some Forte Top End Treatment, or Wynns Hydraulic Valve Treatment (this is available in the trade products which is probably stronger than the retail stuff, we can get it at work for about £7)

Gave it a STP flush before and a full change with 10w40 semi-synthetic.

Running like a dream now

Oil pressure is just over 3 on kick over and just under 3 when cruising on the motorway, doesn't go over 4 when giving it big beans though.

I take it this is fine?
