Couldnt resist the deal Nick is doing on the chip+rr package, so booked my hybrid in for tomorrow morning :D
Thinking of having the limiter set at a nice round 7000rpm.
Pics and results tol follow

144bhp at the wheels  had the limiter raised to 6800rpm (peak power at 6300rpm). Pulls harder after 4k and generally feels more responsive.

thats very good....Whats the spec on the engine ???

And can we see the rr print out ?

Steve a
26-03-2005, 18:19
At the moment it has decat, exhaust, pannel filter in modified airbox, 16v exhausts manifold and hillpower chip. havent got the print out as nick hasnt got the electronics hooked up yet to enable printing of the graphs etc.
Nick said standard williams's put out around 128-130 atw on his rr so I am more than happy.

Is that the corrected fugure or the actual figure?

Winston
26-03-2005, 18:33
Did nick map it or did he just fit a ready mapped chip .what did it get before the chip?......very good results really tempted to get mine done lol

Steve a
26-03-2005, 18:39
Its at the wheel figure, ran a 144 atw the first time and 142 the second time.
Winston, it was an already maped chip that he developed when he had his engine dyno. Didnt run it before the chip, last time it made 161.4bhp at the cliosport AMD rr day.
Now with 144atw Nick said it should be around 165-170 at the fly.

I mean was that figure the actual figure on the day, or did nick correct the figure for air temp, pressure, etc etc?

My williams made 150 atw on Nick's RR which I thought was quite strange!

i was thinking about this as a future mod: chip and upped rev limitier. anyone had it done with the sctm6 thingy and how does it compare to hill power as ktec are very dear?

as far as i know mate.the smt6 cant run a raised limiter..altho wen craig had the yellow 1 he was offered a free add on to it that allowed raised limiter.

tbh the best way to go is to get a chip mapped to suit ur engine.im not a fan of any off the shelf chip, as evry engine is differant...so wots good for 1 isnt good for the next

my reccomendations would be chip wizards.teh results he achieved with mine were fantastic..felt like a diff car after hed had a play..cant reccommend the guy enuff.....an i dont give recommendations out very easily lol

Yea, I heard that the SMT6 can't override the limit on the ECU.. so you have to get it raised somehow before the SMT6 goes on if you do want a higher limit.

Martin

I've kept the smt6 but got Nick to raise the limiter with one of his chips...works fine.

would u reccomend hill power over ktec then?

any1 had any work done by ktec r they any good? 2 live how much does chip wizards charge mate?thinking of just having it mapped with ik decat and s/s exhaust . bany ideas what sort of power can be achieved with these mods is 170bhp optimistic?

Dont ktec supplied coilovers just dent the bonnet?

Chip wizzards is £350 mate.

Thats a remap, increased limiter and soft limiter conversion.

He will travel to most rolling roads around the country - but he might have set up his own unit now.

i know sum1 that had the same work done on his 16v an he got about 20bhp from viper, decat ss exhaust, chip so it does not sound too unoppturmistic. id reckon about 167ish

Ordnance survey did my remap. :D

I'd say that is very optomistic really...especially for a 16v! My car has s/s exhaust, de-cat, 4to1 manifold, piper cams (followers/verniers etc) and smt6 mapped chip. It's got 140 bhp atw which works out at between 170 and 180 atf depending on what sort of transmission loss % you use....

It's not worth getting a chipwizard re-map without cams IMO the gains with breathing mods alone will be small.

middlesex tuning told me the difference a chip makes to the williams is unbelievible. not sure if he knew what he was talking about although they dont sell chips so he wasnt trying to sell me 1. power engineering say that superchips off the shelf 1 will add a pretty much guaranteed 8 or 10 bhp for 293 inc vat.???

KingStromba

Youll be lucky if you notice any difference from an off the shelf chip.
