Cambelt on my car is fine i believe, but the tensioner/idler is making a noise (it think), it is 4 years old.

So thought i would goto a few garages today. the prices are labour only (i will supply cam blet kit)

One for £280, one for £200 and the "Cambelt specialist" didnt want to know and said something like £300

Can anyone here do it for?

Each of the garages knew that it was a c*** of a job :D

500 Mile round trip to swansea, thats guna cost like £75 or so in fuel anyway :? . How much do you charge for a cambelt & idler/tensioner change?

Also where is GDI based? do they have a website/email/telephone?

Cheers.

EDIT: Found it, its in cambridgeshire, not bad at all. Ill be asking them for a quote :D

When I got just the belt changed at BB yonks ago think it was £137 plus VAT for part (belt) and labour. Obviously tensioners would be more expensive and probably add to the labour charge too by however long it takes to replace them.

Think Ktec charge the same so that seems a ballpark figure for change of belt and I'm sure they would quote including tensioners too. As would GDI, Hillpower et al.

Tis a rip off, but not supprised tbh, if you are in that area try bbpt, hillpower in the midlands, or BenR at AWT

GDI are pretty much like k-tec, overpriced but decent stuff, and the idiots with loads of money on cliosport pay those sorta prices
