renault stuck to there word and only ever released the orignal williams 1, seem they have a thing for saying onething and endup doing another, like saying no more v6 clio then oh we might get a v6 mk3 clio

They did only ever release the original clio williams 1. The 2's and 3's were different with no gold plaque on the dash. If they decided to build more numbers of the williams 1 then that would have been a different story.

They would only be as rare as they are now if they didn't release the 2 and 3.

I'm glad they made more. This would be a pretty crap site if it had like ten people on it.

This site isn't just for williams owners tho, it's generally for all mk1 clios

This is a williams owners club - for williams owners mate.

But we now cater for all Mk1 and performance Mk1's

I doubt the very first owners of the Williams 1 would agree! There may be slight differences, but resale values were still effected enough for them to kick up a fuss!

the original owners proper threw the dummies out the pram wen the 2 and 3 were released......unsurprisingly really.

reno...oh think wel make a homolgomation batch for rallying....limited no.s etc.

joe public.......wel av some o that.aye........ wot u mean theres only 400......thats bullshit i want 1, and so do hundreds of others.

reno.......due to popular demand, were makin the limited no.d cars..errrrrrr a little less limited....lol.....so wel add a number, and take one away...hence the willy 2 without the plaque was born.

Just imagine how good the resale value would be now if they had only made the original williams 8)

Yeah suppose if they just left it at the williams 1 the resale values would be huge today, will be interesting to see if this happens with the Trophy

Can't imagine they'll be any more Trophies made. Renault didn't shift the first batch all that easily, and the Mk3 has come out now anyway.

Sorry, I meant it will be interesting to see what the resale values are like for the Trophy in a few years as, like you said, it's very unlikely anymore will be made.

Ah right, I see. Well hopefully they suddenly come down in value loads (so I can buy one) and then level off (preferaby when I've bought it) :D

Trophy's not exactly as special though is it? I mean there's been approximately 1,000,001 variants of the quicker mk2 clios so one could argue the 172 Exclusive is the rarest and best looking so will command more, or the proper Cup (172) as that's the only one that wasn't chock full of driver gaids, etc, etc.

It's a bit more straightforward with the mk1s.
