Ok so we all know that some 172/182's out of the box are slower/faster than others (chrisnics cup being an example of faster than your average) sometimes due to the way they are run in sometimes the way they are built, although i dont own a williams this also seems to be the case on the williams too as some are faster standard than others which are standard

In the case of the 172/182 the general concenus is that with benR's intake mod you can bring the clio back to normal power or beyond.

My question is, is there an equivalent way on the williams? for instance an intake mod jobby?

if this post makes no sense i apologise :)

I don't think it's the inlet that causes the performance differences in mk1s I would be inclined to get a megane btm end if I had a slow un' not a cheap fix though lol

what kind of prices would you be looking at for a meggy btm end and fitted?

Martin

depends where you go tbh I think TheJesus knows a place where they do it for around £400 all in...

seems resonable, im currently looking for a williams atm u see but iv got a cup and realistically want it to be the speed of the cup, cup runs 14.9

Martin

a 2.0'd clio 16v will be faster than 14.9 unless it's a dud...

I'm serious lol ....exhaust & chip..and most 2.0'd clio 16v will be around 14.5/6 williams tend to be a touch slower for some reason... :?

well iv got a bit of cash set away for the usual decat, s/s system, supersprint mani, and remap most probs chipwizards as they seem highly recommended. Then the rest on track days :D

I'll second that!

Mrk1 all the way!!! hehe

I'm itching to get mine up the 1/4mile. Will be done in the next month, unless the snow is still here! (Wont hold my breath!!!)

Ive no idea how good crails timing is, but ive heard bad things!

Provisionally booked in for cams and headwork for 13th May, so need a benchmark time before then anyway!

I'm hoping for 14.3-14.4's ish with good traction...

Good idea :) Thats pretty much what I've done  .....you might be better with a 2.0'd valver over a williams if it's gonna be a track biased car? PLus the meggy btm end is all you need to convert a 1.8 to 2.0.

Doubt you get low 14s at the mo mate....might be wrong though. On the other hand it is crail!

they are allowed on hybrids!

Then your "allowed" to butcher and modify it! No-one can complain!

Martin

ah well at least you get the wide track.....as standard. A few well placed mods will see you right for some track action. :)

just a few times for ya....

williams block....only mods de-cat, cat back s/s zorst, coilovers.........ran 14.6s

meg 2.0 block, cams, quikshift, above mods,.......ram 14.4, wudda gone quicker

all above mods wi meg btm end, plus re-map..14.0..........again wudda run quicker i reckon, but the cams decided to spit the dummy out.

mine seems to be one of the fast uns...........but with 2 diff blocks......so if theres a reason for the slow runnin 1s i would say it isnt in the block....

mine now runs meg btm end std 1800 valver head, std willy cams.....again its still quik enuff to give the more modded ones a good run for their money, so i think the head can be counted out for the slow car reasons too....as can the inlets.......had 2 or 3 diff inlets on mine too.

the reason for the slow uns????????????? dunno......must be the drivers ;)

My williams 3 has a strong engine - but is held back by the weight.

Mine will run 14.8 - 14.9's all day. And the 14.8 is my best.

Crossing the 1/4mile at around 92 - 93mph so u can judge alot on that.

Is that for bottom end with fitting? Or just fitting? Does seem very cheap...

I'm amazed nobody's mentioned head mods yet.
If you've got £400 get the head gas flowed. Much more worthwhile than all those other mods put together

prolly because Williams owners like to keep their interior in the car
