95, can't afford to be paying the extra for the others  . nearest shell garage is over 15 mile away so theres no point in me running on optimax.
Its on my commute to uni, and its onyl a couple of quid per tank, injust drink a pint less at the wekeneds :)
all the mags which seem to be testing all these fuels all seem to get different results
i flicked through Banzai last week and they said Optimax was best
Turbo cars will always show better results on 98 and above.
95 for me on any NA car
iv got about 5 BP garages all within 10 min drive of my house :D
only 1 shell though i think
Optimax as there is a shell garage about 1 mile down the road from where I live, but I have run it on normal 95 unleaded and runs fine. Don't know what all the fuss is about TBH
i get more MPG on Optimax, it actually works out cheaper or the same to use it, and if its slowly cleaning my engine, im all for it !
best?? hmmm who knows doubt there's any difference in a clio
mixed reactions really and a stab in the dark. evo did a review a few months back. all depends on the octane rating - obviously chances of super is going to be the better buy. iv seen it give performance advantages and economy and other times just the same as 95 with no telling difference. all depends on the batch etc..
i try and use the ratio 3 normal tanks to 1 super tanks if only to keep the injectors cleaner.
petrol is petrol to me! all the same(altho i know you guys will tell me that its not) i use the normal unleaded stuff. but i always make sure i only use SHELL
I've never bothered trying Super. Clio engines can't recognise the difference between 95 and 995 RON so it can't make a difference. simple! The only way it could make a difference is if you've had the CR raised. If it makes much difference on a standard Clio then there was probably something wrong with it causing detonation in the first place!
On my Nova I'd had the CR raised but I was still running standard ignition #-o. SuperDuper used to make a difference purely because it didn't detonate so much going up steep hills
I always use Tesco 99 ron. I can definately feel a difference using it.
ash clio gtt

i have to use bp ultimate or optimax or runs really crap. out of them i prefer optimax.
my engines still the best with good old 4 star 8)
The only reason I use Optimax is due to the better cleansing properties, but I'm very hard pushed to tell the difference in performance gains.
Don't if anyone saw the Fifth Gear episode on the last series where they tested all the premium unleaded petrols. Shell Optimax came out on top performance wise producing the greatest gain in bhp, second was BP Ultimate and third was Tesco. This coupled with the cleaning properties means I'm all for it!!
Ah yes and I've also notice better mpg using Optimax, as Brun mentioned earlier. So works out cheaper in the long run!

my results
£25 of morrisons crappy petrol = 185 miles (average)
£25 of optimax = 210 miles (average)
£25 of bp ultimate = 200 miles (average)
optimax is about 92p per litre
bp ultimate is about 96p per litre
morrisons is around 86p per litre
my work run is a 60 mile roundtrip, and i try not to go over 5000rpm, and keep around 80mph (4000rpm).
it does feel slightly smoother with optimax and bp, im running with optimax as all the bp garages are slightly more expensive.
I use Optimax in the coop - and she definately runs better on it :)
turbos seem to benefit loads from higher octane, i want a turbo!!lol :P

Mine just runs smoother on super, regardless of power gains!
my results
£25 of morrisons crappy petrol = 185 miles (average)
£25 of optimax = 210 miles (average)
£25 of bp ultimate = 200 miles (average)
200?! Christ, I'd go bankrupt if I did 200 per tank!! Mines more like 330! Is your engine highly modified?

200 miles per £25 of fuel.
im spending £200 a month to get to work, so its all about control and keeping the revs down.
of course, i dont spend all my time "driving miss daisy" - but for the daily run, i can squeeze fair mpg out of the beast.
200 miles on £25.............i can only dream of that !
am on 120 outta 20 quid wit quater tank left, but its that quarter tank that disappears over like 2 miles!!
Yeah you gotta use up the leftover fuel on the way to the petrol station somehow 8)
i just picked up £60 worth of nectar vouchers from sainsburys.....so a free tank of BP 97 for me i think :D then ill try shell....
how many miles b4 u run it through ur system properly?....if uv been runnin 95 all the time and then change to 97 etc it wont make a diference striaght away will it? if at all!
200 miles per £25 of fuel
lol - 250 miles per £50 of fuel here
£25 doesn't fill a tank mate
Oh yeah didn't read it properly!!
