Hey Guys!

I feel like im making the most of this forum (3 topics in my first day) - so for that im sorry!!

I was able to lay my hands on an ECU which had an evolution chip on it.
The chip clipped into a platform that was attached to the ECU. The ECU in question was identical to the one in my valver, apart from the original renault chip was soldered to the board and was no way of getting it off. I would have just swapped ECU's but the fuel part of the other ECU was fooked apparently.
I always thought superchips were just a case of clip on, clip off?

I could get the chip out of the platform from the other ECU, but there was just no way that I could fix it onto my own ECU?
Am I just being dump or is this chip and other ECU just scrap metal now?

Many Thanks

Mike

open up your working ECU

unscrew the circuit board..........get a soldering iron and unsolder the contacts for the chip and pull it off..........solder the 'chip' thats in the holder on your other ECU, into the working ECU

- open up your working ECU
- unscrew the circuit board
- get a soldering iron and unsolder the contacts for the chip and pull it off
- solder the 'chip' thats in the holder on your other ECU, into the working ECU
For the last bit, buy yourself a DIL socket, rather than solder direct. Safer that way. You can get it from Maplin.

he said the chip he has though, has one of those, so he could unsolder that and solder that in
