One person had a problem with some work done by GDi/AWT, who then offered to fix it for free but they declined and everyone else (all the persons friends) thinks they know better then highly qualified, highly experienced tuners
99.9% of those with '1st hand experience' (very few on here) dont have any issues with Andy or Ben's workmanship, price and friendly advice.
Just ask on CS about there work and there is 100's of satisfied customers and I can garuntee there will be 100's more :)

Anyway...back on topic

What size is it Fred? I will offer you £10

J o n
14-03-2006, 15:31
either way it is a shame as Andy and Ben are top blokes, I could say now that if you (meaning the haters) met them you'd deffo get on with them both... it's a shame cars cause this much trouble as i'm sure if none of you messed with cars you'd get along fine! lol

lmao........their quality of workmanship, mainly the results from the work.....for highly qualified, highly experienced tuners is pretty poor imo.

name 1 car on std inlet thats in the top 5 results wise that theyv had a hand in.....

jesus' is the most impressive to come out their workshops imo.

The nana came from them and that's a fast ****er, one of the quickest, its the only car to match yours so far dood... okay it's stripped a lot more, but then so are ALL the other quickest ones imo, yours being the exception to the rule.

Rob, not really any difference from new to old engine on the bridge test results, but I think the Meggy engine has the potential to be a bit quicker maybe, but only due to miles... it was flying at one point... not at the moment though sadly lol

the nana has been pretty close ever since weight had it......its lost a hell of a lot more weight, and been modded, so both still runnin same spec, but with the nana a lot lighter.

still both pretty level. buit for highly qualified, highly experienced tuners to be nearly matching a back street build is pretty poor to me.

ppl who want money off u usually are nice lol.

Zollo
15-03-2006, 10:26
But wasn't your one quick anyway 2 live, even before you started playing with it? Stands to reason it's going to be a quick modified one if you're starting off from a very good base...

2 live
15-03-2006, 10:32
lol.the nana was actually quicker wen weight had it.same mods/specs there was 0.2 down the strip between times.......check out pgti forum thrash thing..he beat me in it there too...altho he had 3 runs and they chose the best of the 3..i had only 1 timed run. so i reckon i probs cudda got closer......

now more mods, less weight....is now level......i must be some kinda super tuner......lmao......which im not

btw its runnin on a diffrent block now too.so thats 2 engines that are as quick?? pretty weird in the whole scheme of things if u look at it. as there seems to be very few good quick ones, there is a few, but i think most seem to underperform in std trim.

Zollo
15-03-2006, 11:01
Well, either way, 14.6 without any cam/remapping is still a very good base!

Based on what? Stripping your car and ragging its tits off for 1/4 mile  pmsl
There are 6 of us in Cambs/Peterborough that have all had our work done at GDi and I know for certain 4 of us (me included) that have never seen a 1/4 strip and have no intetion too either.....I live my life more then 1/4mile at a time funnily enough.
My car is for going fast in all directions hence the coilovers and big brakes as well as the engine tuning.
Then theres BigChris, who came up from Kent and had his work done there too and I know for a fact his hybrid has never been down the 1/4mile.

So I know of 7 that you have never come across.

Ever heard the phrase 'presumption is the brother of all **** ups'

jesus' is the most impressive to come out their workshops imo

Again....THAT YOU KNOW OF!!

Where did the quickest NA Mk1 come from? Thats tuning
Where are most of the 200+ Mk2's coming from? Thats tuning

You working on your car is just that...working on your car. Or did you do your own headwork/SMT6 yourself? Then thats 'tuning'.

No-one I know.....Mk1/Mk2 has had any issues with there headwork, manifold work, SMT6/7 etc which is what I call 'tuning'.
Anyone can work on there own engine and fit, cams, exhaust, I/K, De-cat any bolt on parts but the skill/expertise is in the fabricating/machining/tecnical side etc which they know what they are doing more then you or I......FACT

Anyway......Back to this jumper

Any advances on £10??

lmao.......

quickest n/a mk1 clio is still under competition...so far the title goes to awt.

well see in a couple months.

workin on my car is jus that...as u rightly say. i have never pretended to be a tuner like some, altho i have fettled with heads, combustion chambers, port shape etc , and got good results from it.........does that make me a tuner?? no.

as for the u live ur life more than 1/4 at a time.....dont we all?? iv had the coilovers on for over 2 years now, intentions being to better suit the car to my driving style..not on the straights but thru the twisties.....seems to be working

how come iv never seen any of these cars at meets or trackdays etc. as surely gettin those kinda mods just for the road is a bit daft, why not take full advantage of the mods?

would be good to pit the backstreet beast up againt the highly qualified highly experienced tuners cars.......i can see the outcome already...
