Yeah, you're all a bunch of tools....

Only joking...need some reccomendations for tools...I have nothing and need to get some kit, just so i can take on some of the more minor works that my car needs from time to time.

Does anyone know what brands are good? who to avoid? Where to shop for the best deals etc etc?

I'm looking for some spanners, sockets, screw drivers blah blah.

Halfords Professional

I use Draper Expert, normal draper stuff is shite, but the expert is good, yet to break an expert tool, but borken loads of normal draper ones. Saying that i only get draper expert cus i get ti cheap through work, other wise i'd prolly go for Halfords professional with the lifetime guarentee.

No point in buying Teng, snap-on, Britol etc for DIY useunless you are doing ALOT of work

I've got a draper one that is badley in need of calibration

Think i'm gonna get a Britol or Teng one next, btu you sare talking £100+, and tbh when i was changing my gearbox i didn't bother, tehre were 2 toque settings, tight (reqiring use of rachet), and very tight (requiring use of breaker bar) :D

If you ever watch mechanics work they very rarley use torque wrenches

I recommend snap-on, Teng, Sealey and Facom. They are expensive but you can expect to keep them for a lifetime.

in my experience snap on and mac seem to be the best and most reliable, although anything with a lifetime Guarantee is good enough

I have Teng, and for what i have used them for i am impressed with them.
They have good fit over nuts etc and can reley on them rather than cheap tools.
I got mine new from ebay which where rather cheap.
