Okay...

I have a crappy 1.4 clio Fidji as a run around. Its getting 56 miles to a tenner of petrol (roughly), not very economical at all and it's starting to p!ss me off.

Anyone have any ideas why its consumption would be so crap? It's been serviced, plugs, oil etc about 2 months ago.

lambda?

Aye could be over fueling cos of getting wrong signals from the sensor..

Keep any ideas coming, so I can go through them one by one to try and fix it (cheapest ideas first LOL)

Get it on a rolling road Kelly....should show if its running rich etc

Just for your info.....my 1.4RT gives approx 230 miles to a full tank of fuel £30 ish

Also check for leaks in the fuel line and tank.

thats gonna cost in itself though really, tbh kel i bet it is the lambda up the duff as it usually is on the energy engines, that is if the fuel lines aren leaking. Drop Chris H a PM he will be best to help you

Hi Kelly

Could be the lambda sensor, but unlikely due to the amount of fuel the car is drinking - I guess you should be getting 110-120 miles on £10, depending on how heavy your right foot is!

More likely to be a fuel leak. If it is leaking at the injectors, you'd definately smell it, so more likely to be the fuel lines running along the car. Connections to fuel filter worth checking.

Only other think I can think of is if your injectors are stuck open!

Rolling road not worth it until everything else checked out.

Chris

Well, I know of two Fidji's, and both were Carb Engines.

My 1.4 does about 80 miles to a tenner, 110 miles to a tenner is surley a little over optimistic, either than or you mean non city driving.
But I've always thought all my cars drink fuel, maybe it's just me being a dodgy driver.

Put £7 in today and got 65 miles out of it, city driving on a Saturday so a bit stop and start; with a 12" sub and 1000w (dunno rms) amp I assume that will make a slight diffrence?
