Decat Flames??

My car has been decat for the last week, its a full stainless system but there appears to shoot no flame :( is this a myth i heard, or does a decat cause flames on some cars??

Mine flames (ask jay s) but then i've got a supersprint manifold and Magnex decat and full system.


Exhaust needs to be boiling. Generally does it after a few miles of hard / spirited driving :twisted:

yes it will need a good ragging, no idea if mine still does it but bayliss had told me mine did it in tunnel at donington after a very long thrash from my house lol

my old 1.4 rt with exhaust and decat used to flame sometimes

mine pops em more at higher speeds tbh.

upshift from 2nd -3rd , 3rd - 4th sometimes too. better at higher speeds in the higher gears tho

i used to get mine to flame, rev it to about 5k in 2nd gear, let the revs drop to between 4 - 4-5 still in second, then just fether your foot on the accelerater, it takes some practise but does do it!

I get more pops when I use Tesco 99 ron, dont know if it flames or not!

I mastered that trick in my old car, pops and flames heaven!

I find the easiest way to make it flame is to leave it in 2nd and go down a hill at about 35mph with my foot off the accelerator.

dannyb's method works good aswell just lift off to about 1/2 throttle after booting it and it'll pop and bang.

Yeah I do all of the above, I get plenty of loud banging, popping and crackling, Ill just get me mates behind to look closer then!!

i run supersprint manifold and a straight exhaust.. i can back fire flames from cold lol.. the hotter the louder the better.. i drive hard let rpm sit around 4-5k then blip throttle.. sometimes i can multi-blip for machine gun effects
