how easy is it to change the alternator belt?

mine starts to slip (or at least thats what iit sounds like)when i first turn the steering when just started

makes the dreaded squeeling noise and about wakes the whole street up!

isnt there something you can spray on the belt to stop it slipping?
i think i heard that hairspray did something :? , sure it was something like that!

yeah but its getting worse quickly

i've looked at the belt when turning power steering and if you turn steering wheel to fast the belt stops!! while the pullys are still going round

new belt time im sure!

I found my Willy a bugger to tighten,

A:- as the git ( previous owner ) had stripped the bl**dy teeth on the adjustment sprocket (new plate required).

B You need a 7mm allen key ( had to make my own with a file, as I couldn't buy one)

C:- Renault give about 10mm to get your allen key and spanner in.

Any way have fun you'll start learning new expletives

The generic name for them is "belt dressing spray". You can probably find something at your local DIY hardware store. But, sometimes, the noise gets worse when the slipping is reduced after spraying.

I have been using this for a while now.

oh another point, if the bekt slips it wears, leading to failure, and i don't have to telly ou what happens if you are doing 90 and the waterpump stops pumping water around teh engine

you mean the pully bit, or the plate bit? the plate on my old block had the cogs bits snapped off! made tightening interesting!

ive got a pully you can have for p+p!
