ok i know ive asked this before but hopefully am buyin some new wheels this week and i want some new tyres for em!!!

one of my Dads mates owns a garage near me so i can get tyres abit cheaper but i need to know the best ones!!

i have the choice out of

pirelli
bridgestone
avon
yokohhamas
conti's

and alot of other makes, the only one he doesnt seem to do is toyo, so can anybody recommend any from that list??

Not Yokos.
Not Pirelli P6000.
Yes to Pirelli P-Zero.
Yes to Bridgestone SO2 / SO3.
Avons are a bit hard compund apparently, but some rate them.
ContiSport are what comes as standard on 172s/182s aren't they?

Dancliovalver

yep ur rite with the conti sport, i just want for best handling as i fancy a few track days with the lads this year if im welcome!!!

so gonna need something for good road and track use!!

P-Zero's are what Ferrari and the like run so I imagine they're pretty good... lol

Different ones though - Rosso's and Nero's are completely different. Think Nero's are more track biased.

SO2 / SO3 were always rated but are probably 'old school' now.

Not sure on any others!

Goodyear F1's all day long

182's come with PE2's as standard

Get goodyear eagle f1s then. Otherwise it would be S02 Pole positions.

Yoko A539's are quite possibly the worst tyres I've ever had the misfortune of using in the damp/wet. They just don't grip.

white16valver
28-02-2006, 17:41
Yokohama's don't grip full stop! lol

If you can get F1s then definitely get them.

Then let us know how much for and we can place orders ;)

yeah sure thing i think i will have to go for those, ive heard alot about them anyways and never a bad word, ill work out some prices and when i get my new wheels ill post some goood pics up!!

what size is best, am think 195/50/15's and what speed rating?

Swervin_Mervin
28-02-2006, 17:46
Be warned. 195/50 are more crashy and tramline more. But then they don't roll as much either.

Dancliovalver
28-02-2006, 17:48
ok then, what would be better mate, im just after ones that would give me best handling, alot of peeps i have spoken to use 185/55's

white16valver
28-02-2006, 17:49
As above, 195/50s are stiffer and don't roll so much, but they will affect the ride and not grip so well on bumpy high speed corners from what I've heard.

I'd go standard 185/55s - think they're just over £60 from mytyres so if you can get them cheaper then let us know ;) lol

And as renault designed what is said to be one of the best handling cars ever with 185/55s a standard, I doubt they did it jsut to get you to spend more in the future... ;)

Dancliovalver
28-02-2006, 18:06
lol i didnt know they were alot more exspensive

If you can get uniroyal rainsports they are good, awesome int eh wet, lacking slightly in the dry though.

Toyo T1-R's are good, as are Goodyear Eagle F1's, only tyres i've had experience of

Euh, in France there is not any bridg S03 or S02 in 195/50/15! The production has be stop...
You got this tyre in UK??

Since trying many makes of tyres on different cars iv now stuck with Eagle F1's, very good in the dry and perform very well in the wet

Never seen a problem with using 195/50 tyres, but will admit iv never used 185/55 on the clio or 19, but have always had plenty of grip

i run goodyear eagle F1 in both 185/55/15 and 195/50/15 (gsd2 and gsd3)

will always use these from now on, so much better then most ive tryed and for the price's im not complaining!

imho the 195/50 are better for on track and very smooth roads, do tramline abit more and def feel bumps more, the 185/55 are miles better for back road use, over bumpy/uneven roads, ive just fitted my 185/55's back on and having so much fun down the backroads to work!!
it feels much more adjustable then when on 195/50, but then the 195/50 are fantastic on track shit loads of grip in dry and wet, as i found out at angelsey lol :D

195/50 are usually a fair bit cheaper then 185/55, but obviously depends on what roads and how u will be using your car its up to you

Mytyres were doing them for £32.50 in 195/50/15s - except now I can't find them so I assume they've done the same as they did with the Toyos a year ago - stuck them on for a silly low price then wondered why half of europe has ordered them and is now demanding delivery at the advertised price...

Currently £61.30 for 185/55/15s.
