What colour should i paint my rocker cover?

Brun, that inlet needs a once over with a wirebrush mate! Would complete the bay.

449 blue. its the way forward. its what im having mine done soon, before i sly some cams, headowork and remap on it! :wink:

i love that bay coops! lot of effort there, but results are fantastic. clean engine bay is the sign of a well looked after car imo!

right rocker is off and ive just spent an hour cleaning it with white spirit, sand paper and cotton buds lol. now for the easy bit.... high temp paint. ok so i want either blue or yellow....... do Halfords do it? nope, ok Partco? Nope. where can i get this legendary stuff from?

when im painting it is it okay to clean the underside of the rocker cover? and get all the shit/oil off there and paint the top? just need to make sure no fluff or bits get stuck on the underside?

do i also need to use high temp paint, as someone said hammerrite and plastikote sprays would be fine

You can clean the underside, justb don't paint it

paint stripper to get rid of old blue paint then power drill and sanding attachments! used medium sanding star to get rid of corrosion where paint had already come off, then flap sanding circle thingie (no idea of actual name!!) to remove imperfections in the alloy and give striated/brushed steel effect. then fine sanding star to make the striations finer and smoother. then finally worked a shit load of autosol metal polish into it with a toothbrush and copious amounts of old rags!! 8)

wash it everyweek n all with soapy water n then more autosol but it takes a load of maintenance to keep it like that in this weather, all salt n shit get flicked onto it n god knows what! looks a mess atm tbh cuz i aint done out to it in ages!! :oops:

Angle grinder with wire brush, 30 mins and you have a perfect shine...minimum effort, maximum results

tried that man, left shed load of ununiform scrapes n shite in me cover, and did nothing to get rid of the bumps n imperfections on the alloy! :P

Yeah its aliminium the wire brush took teh ali away, if i had been arsed i could have kept going till it was smooth
