My oil level gauge only goes up when u put the ignition on second turn (bofore start!) and leave it for a cupla secs, then level displays. the secodn u turn key further to start the engine it goes down again. i thought its sposed to stay up for a minute or so after the engine is started?! its not a problem really its just confused me!!

mine drops off straight away, im sure it does........phase 1

even if the gauge was still taking a reading, as soon as its started oils gettin pumped around to the level on the gauge would drop anyway

i think i might be onto a winner with that theory then! sweet first thing i got right ever!

phase 1 - soon as engine starts drops
phase 2 - stays up after engine start for 30 or so seconds!

:P

It must take a "snapshot" reading or something - cus' it doesn't move once it's up to a set level (unless you stop, then restart car.. and it's usually lower)
